This is the second-generation Ref.16710, which appeared in 1988 as a replacement for the older Ref.16760. With the widespread adoption of the GMT Master II, the old GMT Master ceased production in 2000, but at that time the blue/red two-tone bezel and the black monochrome bezel that existed only on the Ref.16700 were inherited by this Ref.16710. Subsequently, the Ref.16710 could be chosen from three types of bezels: the traditional black/red two-tone, the blue/red two-tone, and the black monochrome.
